Scripture Cake - Barbara Seng

(Give the recipe to the grandkids with only the scripture references and see if they can make it!)

2½ cups 1 Kings 4:22 (flour)            
½ cup Judges 5:25 (butter)
2 cups Jeremiah 6:20 (sugar)           
½ cup Proverbs 25:25 (water)
½ tsp 1 Corinthians 5:6 (baking powder)                       
 cups Psalm 17:8 (applesauce)  
½ tsp (allspice)
1½ tsp Amos 4:5 (soda)                    
2 Jeremiah 17:11 (eggs)
1½ tsp Leviticus 2:13 (salt)              
½ cup 3 Nephi 14:17 (walnuts, chopped)
¾ tsp Exodus 30:23 (cinnamon)     
½ tsp 2 Chronicles 9:9 (cloves)
 
Place dry ingredients into large bowl.  Add softened butter, water and unsweetened applesauce and beat for two minutes at medium speed.  Add eggs and beat another two minutes.  Stir in nuts and raisins.  Pour into greased 9" x 13" cake pan and bake at 350º for 45 to 50 minutes.

¾ cup brown sugar                             
¼ cup butter or margarine
¼ cup cream or milk                          
1 tsp vanilla
Powdered sugar

Mix sugar, butter and milk in small saucepan, bring to boil and boil for one minute.  Cool and add vanilla and enough powdered sugar to make good spreading consistency.  If desired serve with grape juice (D&C 27:5)
