Carol Mumma’s Snickerdoodles - Amanda Seng

½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1½ cup sugar 
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla                  
¼ tsp salt                                              
2 tsp cream of tartar                          
2cups flour
1 tsp baking soda         

Beat butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add sugar and mix well. Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Mix dry ingredients, add to beaten mix.  Shape into ½ inch balls with hands. Roll in cinnamon sugar mix (2 tbsp sugar to 1 tsp cinnamon).  Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE! Cookies will be soft and should be golden with slightly split tops.
