Mocha Spice Cake - Ruth Fletcher

2 cups sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¾ tsp cloves                                         
½ tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon                                   
¾ tsp nutmeg
½ cup shortening
½ cup brown sugar                             
2 eggs
½ cup honey 
½ cup cold coffee               
                         
Sift flour once, measure and add other dry ingredients.  Cream shortening and brown sugar until fluffy.  Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly.  Mix coffee and honey.  Add this mixture alternately with four to creamed ingredients.  When thoroughly blended, pour into 9x9x2 greased baking pan.  Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes. (may substitute dark corn syrup for honey)
