Mom Kilbourne’s Hot Shots - Michael Fletcher

(My childhood best friend’s mother made these.  The name is interesting enough, but these are awesome, and very addicting!)

½ cup margarine
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp water
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 pkg chocolate chips
1 pkg salted shelled peanuts
1 cup brown sugar

Cream the ½ cup margarine, ½ cup brown sugar and ½ cup white sugar.  Alternately add 2 egg yolks and 3 tbsp water.  In another bowl, mix 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.  Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredient mixture.  Mix well and press into a large baking sheet or jelly roll pan.  Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts, pressing them into the dough to prevent them from falling out later.  Beat egg whites until frothy and add 1 cup brown sugar and beat until thick.  Spread over the sheet.  Bake for 20 minutes at 350º.
