Spareribs - Ruth Fletcher

3 lbs spareribs                                      
1 small bottle ketchup
1 medium onion                                 
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp butter                                        
1 tsp mustard
2 tbsp vinegar                                      
½ cup chopped celery
2 tbsp brown sugar                             
½ cup water
4 tbsp lemon juice                              
salt & pepper

Have the spareribs cut into pieces for serving.  Place in a baking dish and put uncovered in a moderate oven, 350º, until browned, about 30 minutes.  Brown the onion in butter, add vinegar, brown sugar, lemon juice, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, celery and water and cook slowly for 20 minutes until flavors blend.  Pour over browned spareribs and cook at 350º until ribs are tender and done.
