Chocolate Filled Bon-Bons - Charlene Fletcher

¾ cup Crisco                                        
½ cup sugar                                         
¼ cup packed brown sugar                               
1 egg                                                      
½ cup almonds or pecans, finely chopped
2 tsp vanilla                                         
3½ - 4 dozen chocolate kisses
1¾ cups flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp almond extract

Preheat oven to 350º.  Using electric mixer, cream Crisco and both sugars until fluffy.  Add egg and both extracts and beat well.  Add flour, baking powder, salt and nuts, mix well.  Form dough into 1 inch balls.  Press each ball around a chocolate kiss so kiss is completely enclosed.  Bake 12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.  Do not overbake!  Cool on wire racks.
