½ cup sugar
½ cup water
1 cup nuts
3 eggs
1 cup shortening
4 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
Cut
dates into
pieces, cook with ½ cup sugar and water.
Blend shortening with sugar, add eggs and dry ingredients. Roll dough ½ inch thick and spread with date
mixture. Roll up like jelly roll. Store
in fridge over night. Cut into slices
and bake at 400º 7-8 minutes.
