Popovers - Ruth Fletcher

1 cup flour                                           
1 egg
1 cup milk                                            
speck salt

Mix salt and flour.  Add part of the milk, slowly stirring to form a paste.  Add the rest of the milk and the well beaten egg.  Have gem pans sizzling hot.  Pour in the batter and cook in a hot oven 1/2 hour.  Popovers will rise and be rather hollow.  They should be split and eaten hot with butter or jam.
