Savory Ragout - Charlene Fletcher

3 lbs chicken pieces                            
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 tsp salt                                                               
¼ tsp dried summer savory leaves
¼ tsp pepper                                        
⅛ tsp sugar
2 tbsp olive oil                                     
4 cups uncooked egg noodles
2½ cups chicken broth                      
grated parmesan cheese
1-8oz can tomato sauce

Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper.  Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat; add chicken, skin side down. Cook until golden for 7-8 minutes.  Turn chicken over; add broth, tomato sauce, onion, savory, and sugar.  Cook until broth boils.  Reduce heat; cover and cook, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes.  Stir noodles into chicken mixture; cover and cook over medium heat until boiling.  Cover and cook until noodles are done., about 10 minutes longer
