Chocolate Peanut Pudding Candy Clusters - Barbara Seng

1 cup sugar                                          
1-3oz pkg chocolate pudding (not instant)
½ cup evaporated milk                     
1 tbsp margarine
¼ tsp vanilla                                        
1 cup cocktail peanuts

Mix pudding, milk, sugar, milk and butter in heavy saucepan.  Place over medium heat and bring to boil, stirring constantly.  Continue to boil slowly for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nuts.  Beat while hot until mixture becomes dull.  Quickly drop from teaspoon onto waxed paper or spread onto 8 inch pan.  Makes about 2 dozen pieces of candy.  (Do not double the recipe)
