½ cup nuts
1 tsp baking soda, dissolved in 1 cup boiling water
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp butter, melted
½ tsp salt
Mix
dates and nuts in a bowl.
Pour baking soda/boiling water liquid over dates and nuts mixture. Let cool.
Beat egg and sugar, then add it to date mixture. Then add flour, vanilla, butter and salt to date
mixture. Pour into tall cans and bake at
350º for 1 hour. Or pour into short cans
and bake at 350º for ½ hour.
